Danger Alert: Millions of Grill Brushes Recalled as Customers Swallow Metal Bristles!

Weber-Stephen Products LLC has initiated a substantial voluntary recall of approximately 3.2 million wire grill brushes in the United States due to a significant ingestion hazard. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced this recall following multiple customer complaints detailing instances where metal bristles detached from the brushes, leading to ingestion and severe internal injuries, some of which necessitated medical treatment or surgery.

The recalled grill brushes, featuring wire bristles and either plastic or wood handles, were sold between 2011 and 2026 at major retailers such as Lowe's, Home Depot, Ace Hardware, and Target. They were also available online through Amazon, Weber.com, and resale platforms like eBay.com, with prices ranging from $10 to $17. The CPSC has confirmed that Weber is aware of at least 38 incidents of bristles detaching and causing problems, including four confirmed cases where individuals swallowed metal bristles and required medical intervention to remove them from their throats or digestive tracts.

Consumers are urged to immediately cease using any of the affected grill brushes. The recall encompasses six specific models, each identifiable by its model number, description, and distribution dates:

Model No. 6277: A 12-inch black plastic handle with a red ring stamped with the Weber grill logo, distributed from 2021–2026.

Model No. 6278: An 18-inch black plastic handle with a red ring stamped with the Weber grill logo, distributed from 2021–2026.

Model No. 6463: A 12-inch bamboo handle featuring a silver metal scraper on the back branded with the Weber logo name, distributed from 2011–2021.

Model No. 6464: An 18-inch bamboo handle with a silver metal scraper on the back branded with the Weber logo name, distributed from 2011–2021.

Model No. 6493: A 21-inch black plastic handle with a black ring stamped with the Weber grill logo and a metal binder also bearing the Weber grill logo, distributed from 2013–2021.

Model No. 6494: A 12-inch black plastic handle with a black ring stamped with the Weber grill logo, distributed from 2013–2021.
