Christopher Meloni Takes the Field as Cleveland Browns Coach in Hulu's New NFL Drama 'The Land'

Christopher Meloni, known for his role in Law & Order: Organized Crime, is set to venture into a new genre and a new fandom with the upcoming NFL drama, The Land. Hulu recently announced the premiere date and released seven first-look photos for the highly anticipated series.

The Land hails from acclaimed creator Dan Fogelman, the visionary behind the emotional drama This Is Us and the post-apocalyptic political thriller Paradise. Fogelman will serve as both the executive producer and showrunner for this 20th Television and Skydance Sports production, promising a narrative rich in character development and high-stakes drama.

Meloni takes on the central role of Danny Roarke, the fictional head coach of the real-life Cleveland Browns. The series delves into the intense pressure to succeed within the football league, centering its narrative on two distinct families whose fates are deeply intertwined with the sport.

According to the show's synopsis, the plot unfolds after several disappointing seasons for the Cleveland Browns. Coach Danny Roarke finds himself with one final opportunity to revitalize his team, with his destiny inextricably linked to a newly drafted Ohio State quarterback—who, by coincidence, is also his son. Simultaneously, the team owner, Hal Durkin, faces the critical decision of selecting which of his two daughters is best suited to inherit the leadership of the franchise. The Land promises to explore the dramatic interplay both on the football field and within the intricate front offices of this NFL organization, as a loyal fanbase demands immediate winning results or anticipates significant changes.

The Land is scheduled to premiere on Hulu on February 15, 2027, strategically launching the day after the Super Bowl. This timing ensures that football enthusiasts will have a compelling new series to anticipate once the current NFL season concludes.

In addition to Christopher Meloni, the star-studded cast features a lineup of notable actors including Mandy Moore, Chace Crawford, Sam Corlett, Tanner Zagarino, Chloe Bennet, Bridget Moynahan, William H. Macy, and Omar Epps.
