Chrisley Family's Tumultuous Return: Post-Prison Confessions & New Reality Show Drama Unfold

The Chrisley family is making a highly anticipated return to television with a new reality series titled, The Chrisleys: Back to Reality. This marks their first on-screen appearance since Chrisley Knows Best concluded two years prior, following the conviction and sentencing of Todd and Julie Chrisley for tax evasion and bank fraud. After a high-profile presidential pardon by Donald Trump, the family is now prepared to share their story, offering an intimate look into their lives post-incarceration.
The new series will premiere as a two-night event on Lifetime, airing on Monday, September 1, and Tuesday, September 2, with each night featuring a two-hour episode starting at 8/7c. Following the premiere, back-to-back episodes will air on Tuesday, September 9, culminating in the season finale on Tuesday, September 16.
Many familiar faces are returning for The Chrisleys: Back to Reality, including Todd and Julie Chrisley, their children Savannah, Chase, Grayson, and adopted granddaughter Chloe. Fan-favorite Nanny Faye will also be part of the show, bringing her distinctive humor and warmth. Julie’s parents, Harvey and Pam, are new additions to the cast. However, Todd’s older children from a previous marriage, Lindsie and Kyle Chrisley, are notably absent and are not involved in the project.
A five-minute trailer released on July 31 has already generated significant emotional responses, providing a candid glimpse into the family’s current dynamics. The trailer opens with a phone call between Savannah and her incarcerated father, Todd, who reassures her, “We will get through this. I don’t know how it’s going to end, but at some point, the truth is going to come out.” Savannah reflects on the family’s division, stating, “With my parents gone, our household is completely divided. I told my parents, I don’t know if it can ever be repaired, honestly.” Chase also comments on the previous show’s impact, acknowledging its success and the hidden struggles they faced, saying, “We were filming one thing that was this happy life. Cameras go down, and we’re also fighting a fed case.”
Todd and Julie Chrisley were initially sentenced in November 2022 to a combined 19 years in prison for multiple charges, including bank and wire fraud and tax evasion. Their sentences were reduced in 2023 following ongoing appeals. The pivotal moment arrived on May 27, 2025, when President Donald Trump announced their pardons during a phone call with their children. Trump stated in the recorded call, later shared on X, “It’s a terrible thing, but it’s a great thing, because your parents are going to be free and clean.”
Upon their release, Todd, 56, and Julie, 52, shared on their “Chrisley Confessions 2.0” podcast (July 23 episode) the unexpected difficulties of adjusting to normal life. Julie noted a consensus among former inmates that life outside can be
