Caught on Camera: Oga Obinna’s Viral Firing Fiasco Sparks Online Debate

Media personality Oga Obinna has addressed viral speculation surrounding a recent live recording in which he appeared to fire his production manager. Speaking on Episode 308 of the Mic Cheque Podcast, Obinna clarified that the moment was misunderstood, describing it as a spontaneous, heat-of-the-moment reaction rather than an actual dismissal. He joked, “Nooo, that was AI,” before detailing the chaotic incident.

The disruption occurred during the recording of an episode featuring activist Gaucho as a guest. Obinna explained that his composure was shaken when an unfamiliar man walked onto the set mid-intro and began plugging his phone into a critical extension cord powering the show’s lighting. Observing the intrusion, Obinna admitted to initial confusion and agitation, thinking, “Who is this? Bent over the extension, doing something.”

His frustration was compounded by the absence of key production staff. His bodyguard, Munez, tasked with managing entry, was not at his station, and the production manager, responsible for overseeing the set, was unexpectedly missing. “This is the work of the production manager, to check the set... the production manager is not around,” Obinna recounted, noting that the manager had been attending to unrelated matters.

Feeling the responsibility of managing the set fall on him, Obinna admitted to losing composure. In the moment, he declared on camera: “I think my production manager is just fired because clearly we don't need you, so we either get someone better or since we're already flying without you…” He stressed that the comment was made casually for dramatic effect and that no formal termination took place. “I didn't even have that conversation with him after,” Obinna clarified, confirming the manager remains employed.

Reflecting on his reaction, Obinna said, “I felt disappointed, I felt confused. And when such things happen, especially in the public eye, we have moments of misjudgment. We are emotional beings, I'm a human being so I will react.” The intruding stranger, it turned out, was a guest of Gaucho who accompanied him to the interview and later introduced himself, resolving the misunderstanding.

The incident underscores how intense on-set pressure and brief emotional reactions can spiral into viral controversies, fueling public speculation and online debate.
