Bulgaria Victorious! Dara Claims Eurovision 2026 Crown with 'Bangaranga'!

Bulgaria achieved a historic milestone by securing its first-ever victory at the 2026 Eurovision Song Contest Grand Final. Pop star Dara claimed the coveted title on Saturday night, May 17, in Vienna, with her high-energy electronic anthem “Bangaranga.” Infused with distinctive Bulgarian folk influences, the song quickly became one of the standout performances of the competition. Performing at the iconic Wiener Stadthalle alongside 24 other finalists, Dara's commanding stage presence and viral live performance propelled Bulgaria to this monumental win, bringing an end to years of near misses and occasional withdrawals from the prestigious contest. Israel finished in a strong second place, while Romania rounded out the top three.
The final results were meticulously determined through a combined voting process, incorporating scores from national juries and television viewers across 35 participating countries. Meanwhile, Australia's representative, Delta Goodrem, delivered one of the night’s most celebrated performances. Her soaring power ballad, “Eclipse,” secured a commendable fourth place, marking the country's strongest Eurovision result in several years and highlighting a significant achievement for Australia on the international stage.
Goodrem’s performance was further elevated by its cinematic staging, which masterfully transformed the Wiener Stadthalle. The set evolved from a moonlit dreamscape into a radiant gold sunscape, visually echoing the song’s profound themes of transformation and inherent strength. For her memorable appearance, Goodrem wore a custom couture gown, exquisitely crafted by Velani By Nicky and House of Emmanuele, and meticulously adorned with more than 7,000 shimmering Swarovski crystals, adding to the visual spectacle.
Reflecting on her experience, Goodrem shared in a statement, “Representing Australia on the Eurovision stage and being part of this incredible community has been unforgettable. I’m so grateful for all the love and support from home and around the world — it has carried me every step of the way. Sharing Eclipse with you at this moment feels perfectly timed, and I’m excited to continue the journey we’ve started together and to share new music with you soon.” The acclaimed track “Eclipse” was co-written by Goodrem alongside Ferras Alqaisi, Jonas Myrin, and Michael Fatkin, with Fatkin also credited as the producer.
As one of Australia’s most accomplished performers, Goodrem’s extensive career includes writing songs for the legendary Eurovision winner Celine Dion and collaborating with the late global icon Olivia Newton-John. Her participation in the Eurovision campaign serves as a pivotal launchpad for a major new chapter in her illustrious career. She also announced her much-anticipated eighth studio album, titled “Pure,” which is slated for release on November 6. This marks her first full-length project in five years, signaling a significant return to recording.
The forthcoming 16-track record, “Pure,” promises a delicate balance of piano-led intimacy and expansive widescreen cinematic production. The album is set to explore universal themes of clarity, profound emotion, and renewal. Ahead of its official release, Goodrem will offer fans an exclusive preview of new material through a series of intimate performances dubbed “Pure: Prelude.” For viewers in Australia, the Grand Final of the Eurovision Song Contest aired in primetime on SBS and was available on SBS On Demand on Sunday, May 17, at 7:30 p.m.
