Bruckheimer Unleashes Blockbuster Hints: Top Gun 3, F1, and Pirates Ahoy!

Veteran producer Jerry Bruckheimer engaged in a wide-ranging conversation with Variety’s Clayton Davis at the Variety Entertainment & Technology Summit, where he not only hinted at potential follow-ups to successful franchises like “F1: The Movie,” “Top Gun 3,” and a new “Pirates of the Caribbean” installment, but also delved into the often-misunderstood role of a producer and the current state of the film business.
Bruckheimer notably addressed the success of his recent blockbuster, “F1: The Movie,” which he produced with director Joseph Kosinski, Apple, and Warner Bros. Despite Formula 1 racing being less popular in the U.S. compared to Europe, Bruckheimer explained that the film's success in America stemmed from its ability to immerse audiences in an unknown world. He highlighted the intense training undertaken by stars Brad Pitt and Damson Idris, who prepared for four months to realistically drive the high-speed F1 cars. Bruckheimer credited director Kosinski and Apple for their innovative use of camera technology, developing smaller cameras that allowed for unprecedented racing footage, providing a visceral experience that made viewers feel like they were driving the cars themselves.
