Breaking: Onoja Rejects High-Stakes Maritime Authority Role!

Former deputy governor of Kogi State, Edward Onoja, has firmly dismissed widespread social media reports alleging that he had been appointed Director-General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) by President Bola Tinubu. Onoja clarified that the reports were entirely unfounded and misrepresented his current position in public service.
In a statement released on Wednesday in Abuja, Onoja explained that he was inundated with messages and calls from well-wishers congratulating him on the supposed appointment. He stated, “For the avoidance of doubt, my current and only portfolio remains that of a Board Member of the South East Development Commission (SEDC), representing the North Central geopolitical zone, a responsibility for which I remain profoundly grateful to Mr. President.”
The former deputy governor expressed gratitude to his supporters and associates for their encouragement but reaffirmed his focus on his existing assignment. He said, “I wish to state categorically that I am fully committed to my present assignment and deeply dedicated to this work,” emphasizing that his service to the nation remains unchanged.
Onoja also called on Nigerians to continue supporting the administration of President Bola Tinubu, urging unity and shared purpose. He encouraged citizens to “integrate their strengths and unite with a collective heart to build a nation reflective of shared dreams.” Reports of Onoja’s alleged NIMASA appointment had caused a stir across Kogi State and online platforms on Tuesday before his official denial was issued.
