Apple TV's 'The Last Thing He Told Me' Delivers Shocking Dark Reveal

The second season finale of Apple TV’s “The Last Thing He Told Me” brought significant revelations for Quinn Campano, played by Judy Greer, transforming her from a contentious link to the emotional center of the series. Throughout Season 2, Quinn's character was positioned as a key connection between Bailey (Angourie Rice), Hannah (Jennifer Garner), and her dangerous mafia family, led by the late Frank Campano (John Noble) and orbiting Owen (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau). However, the finale, particularly Episode 8’s “Souvenir d’enfance,” unveiled a truth that recontextualized much of Quinn’s behavior: she was responsible for the chain of events that led to the death of Owen’s wife, Kate.
This major secret profoundly shaped Quinn’s interactions, especially with Bailey. Greer revealed in an interview with Collider that she always knew about this secret, which informed her portrayal of Quinn’s deliberate restraint and inability to fully emotionally commit to Bailey. Quinn “almost couldn’t give in to Bailey emotionally” because she “had to protect herself and her secret.” This created a unique tension, making Quinn appear maternal yet guarded, a balancing act Greer found compelling from the start. The knowledge of her role in Kate’s death became a “huge cross to bear,” preventing her from truly connecting without revealing the truth or living with overwhelming guilt.
The series also showcased a natural and immediate chemistry between Judy Greer and Jennifer Garner, who plays Hannah. Despite their characters often verbally sparring, they did so with a smile, both focused on protecting Bailey. Greer explained that this rhythm didn't require manufacturing; it stemmed from a natural rapport with someone she admired. She noted that chemistry is crucial not just in romantic contexts, but also in friendships and scenes of conflict, where animosity exists but a fundamental connection is still needed.
By the conclusion of Season 2, Quinn emerges as a powerful figure within the Campano family. With her father, Frank, murdered and her brother, Teddy (Luke Kirby), spiraling, Quinn is left effectively in control of the business. Greer also addressed a surprising moment in the finale involving a call to Maris, who is revealed to be a mole. While initially unaware of this plot point, Greer leaned into Quinn’s decision to pursue ruthless survival while seemingly choosing a path of redemption in another aspect.
Looking ahead to a potential Season 3, Judy Greer expressed her desire to explore several facets of Quinn’s character. She is interested in Quinn being true to her family, fully running the business, and deepening her evolving relationship with Hannah. Questions remain about the extent of Hannah’s knowledge regarding Quinn’s actions and whether they could become friends despite potential secrets. Greer also hopes to see how Quinn’s relationship with Bailey develops, pondering if they could become friends, or if Quinn might even bring Bailey to her side. The possibilities for Quinn are described as endless, with Greer even jokingly suggesting a love triangle with Owen, highlighting the unresolved complexities of Quinn’s past and present. Quinn ends Season 2 as perhaps the most intriguing character, holding power, harboring deep secrets, and facing a future full of potential chaos.
