Tom Hardy & Guy Ritchie's Hit Crime Series Gears Up for Season 2

When the Guy Ritchie-led crime drama 'MobLand' premiered on Paramount+ in March 2025, it immediately captivated viewers with its incredible cast, featuring renowned actors like Tom Hardy, Pierce Brosnan, Helen Mirren, and Paddy Considine. The series quickly established itself as a fast-paced, twisty, and must-see television event, drawing significant attention despite some initial chatter about accents.
The first season of 'MobLand' immersed audiences in the perilous world of the Harrigans, one of London's most dangerous crime families. Harry Da Souza (played by Tom Hardy) serves as the right-hand man to Conrad Harrigan (Pierce Brosnan), the family boss known for his iron-fisted rule. However, it's Maeve Harrigan (Helen Mirren), Conrad's steely and ruthless wife, who truly orchestrates the family's operations from behind the scenes. Throughout Season 1, the Harrigans and Harry are forced to navigate a treacherous landscape where trust is a rare commodity, even within their own ranks.
The Season 1 finale left viewers with numerous pressing questions and significant upheaval. Conrad and Maeve found themselves imprisoned, shifting leadership responsibilities to their son, Kevin Harrigan (Paddy Considine). This development raises immediate concerns about the family's future strategies and the timeline for Maeve and Conrad's release. Further complicating matters is the unsettling transformation of their grandson, Eddie (Anson Boon), who has clearly descended into psychopathy, making his next dangerous actions unpredictable. Additionally, the powerful crime boss Kat McAllister (Janet McTeer) attempts to poach Harry, and his refusal likely cements her as an even greater adversary for the Harrigans.
Anticipation for new episodes has been high since the finale, and 'MobLand' fans now have concrete clues about Season 2's progress. Emmett J. Scanlan, who portrays the Harrigans' enforcer Paul O'Donnell, recently announced on Instagram that he has concluded filming his scenes for the second season. Scanlan described the experience as "extraordinary" and promised that if viewers enjoyed Season 1, they would be "obsessed" with the new episodes, calling them the same but "on steroids." Further evidence suggests a wrap party for the cast has already occurred, indicating a likely Season 2 release later this year.
Despite some initial mixed reactions, including discussions around Pierce Brosnan's attempt at a Kerry accent, 'MobLand' has consistently performed well on streaming charts since its June 2025 Season 1 conclusion. This steady popularity underscores a strong, built-in fanbase eager for the series' continuation. Paramount+ appears to hold significant confidence in the show, as reports suggest a third season is already in the works, even before Season 2 has aired. This move signals a healthy future for the criminal empire depicted in the series, indicating that the initial backlash wasn't enough to deter the network.
Collider's review by Nate Richard lauded 'MobLand' as a "fun, star-studded criminal romp," particularly highlighting the villainous turns of Brosnan and Mirren. Richard noted that "MobLand further comes to life whenever Brosnan and Mirren are on-screen," praising their ability to lean into audience expectations while subtly eroding trust in their characters. The review emphasized their cunning charisma and the constant questioning of their relationships with Harry, family members, and partners.
Beyond the returning ensemble, Season 2 will introduce new faces, with Ophelia Lovibond and Johnny Flynn joining the cast. The series is known for its willingness to place main characters in danger and even kill them off, ensuring a continually thrilling narrative. For those who haven't yet explored the world of 'MobLand', now is an opportune moment to binge-watch all 10 episodes of the first season and join the growing fanbase before Season 2 finally arrives.
