Apple TV's New 8-Part Series Dominates Weekend Binges

Since its launch in 2019, Apple TV+ has built a reputation for high-quality original programming, delivering award-winning series such as Ted Lasso, Severance, and The Morning Show.

Among its recent standout offerings are the 2024 thriller Presumed Innocent and the historical drama Lessons in Chemistry, both praised for compelling storytelling, strong performances, and engaging narratives.

These two series highlight the platform’s continued focus on diverse, character-driven stories that appeal to binge-watch audiences.

Presumed Innocent, an eight-episode thriller based on Scott Turow’s novel, stars Jake Gyllenhaal as prosecutor Rusty Sabich, whose life unravels after he is accused of murdering a colleague with whom he had a secret affair.

The series blends psychological tension with courtroom drama, using flashbacks and character-driven storytelling to question Rusty’s innocence while exploring the strain on his family and legal team. Performances from Ruth Negga, Bill Camp, and Peter Sarsgaard also strengthen the narrative, with the first season concluding as a standalone story.

Following its success and awards recognition, the show has been renewed for a second season, featuring a new storyline and cast.

Meanwhile, Lessons in Chemistry, created by Lee Eisenberg and based on Bonnie Garmus’ novel, stars Brie Larson as Elizabeth Zott, a brilliant scientist navigating sexism and racism in 1950s America.

After personal tragedy and professional setbacks, Zott becomes the host of a cooking show, using science-based cooking to inspire women and challenge societal norms.

The series blends romance, social commentary, and historical context, with supporting performances from Lewis Pullman and Aja Naomi King.

Praised for its emotional depth and strong female lead, the limited series earned major award nominations and further reinforced Apple TV+’s growing reputation for producing critically acclaimed, character-focused dramas.
