Tems, Wizkid, Asake Lead Nigerian Nominations for 2026 BET Awards

The 2026 BET Awards are set to spotlight the growing global influence of Nigerian music, with top artists Tems, Wizkid, and Asake among the major nominees announced for this year’s ceremony. The nominations further reinforce Nigeria’s sustained impact on international Black culture and the global music industry.

Tems stands out with three nominations, including Best Female R&B/Pop Artist, the BET Her Award for her track “First,” and a Viewers’ Choice nod for “Raindance” featuring Dave.

Wizkid and Asake were jointly nominated in the Best Group category, reflecting their recent collaboration and continued global appeal. Burna Boy also earned recognition with a nomination in Best Collaboration for “WGFT,” his feature on Gunna’s track.

The awards also continue to reflect Nigeria’s broader creative influence beyond music. Past winners such as Davido, 2Baba, D’banj, and Ice Prince highlight the country’s strong history at the BET Awards, while recent recognition of Ayra Starr as Best International Act in 2025 signals a new generation maintaining that momentum.

This year’s ceremony is scheduled for June 28 at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles, with comedian Druski set to host the event.
