‘Sinners’ Sweeps Actor Awards as Posthumous Win Stuns Ceremony

The 32nd annual Actor Awards, formerly the SAG Awards, streamed live on Netflix with a revamped format and expanded musical presence. Producers introduced live performances and staging changes to elevate the show’s overall spectacle.
Host Kristen Bell opened with a musical number titled “A Stage Name,” poking fun at celebrity rebrands and the ceremony’s evolution. The night blended comedy, tributes and nostalgia in a refreshed presentation.
Sinners emerged as the evening’s biggest film winner, claiming Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture. Star Michael B. Jordan earned Leading Actor honors for his dual role, calling the victory a deeply personal milestone.
Director Ryan Coogler made history as the first filmmaker to helm two ensemble winners at the ceremony. His previous triumph with Black Panther reinforced his industry clout.
In television categories, Apple TV’s The Studio and HBO Max’s The Pitt claimed top ensemble prizes in comedy and drama, respectively. Individual acting wins spanned limited series and supporting categories in a night filled with surprises.
A historic moment came with the posthumous win for Catherine O’Hara, recognized for her role in The Studio. Her award marked the first posthumous individual female acting honor in the ceremony’s history, drawing emotional tribute from colleagues.
Veteran actor Harrison Ford received the SAG-AFTRA Life Achievement Award, reflecting on his decades-long career and unlikely path to stardom. He emphasized collaboration and empathy as the industry’s guiding principles.
The ceremony balanced celebration with reflection, opening with remarks on global conflicts and closing with unexpected upsets. With major Oscar contenders emerging, the Actor Awards once again signaled its growing influence as a key precursor.
