Accord Party's Christopher Imumolen Withdraws from 2027 Presidential Race, Endorses Tinubu

Professor Christopher Imumolen, the Accord Party's presidential candidate, has withdrawn from the 2027 presidential race and endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term. He said the decision followed extensive consultations with party stakeholders, political associates and supporters across the country.
According to Imumolen, placing Nigeria's national interest above personal ambition informed his decision. Imumolen argued that Nigeria is at a critical stage where political leaders must embrace cooperation and collective responsibility to strengthen national unity.
He commended the Tinubu administration's ongoing economic and institutional reforms, saying continuity would provide the best opportunity for those policies to achieve their intended objectives.
He stressed that his endorsement should be viewed as a strategic move to promote stability rather than an act of political surrender. The former presidential hopeful called on Accord Party members, his supporters and Nigerians to back President Tinubu's re-election bid in 2027.
