XRP ETFs: Experts Unveil Path to Crypto's Explosive 2026!

The year 2025 marked a profound transformation for XRP, moving from an asset embroiled in an active SEC lawsuit to one with fully trading spot exchange-traded funds (ETFs). This significant shift repositioned XRP from a niche cryptocurrency to a more conventional asset suitable for traditional investment portfolios. As ETF analyst Nate Geraci highlighted in his New Year rundown, XRP serves as a clear example of the rapid expansion occurring within the U.S. product shelf for digital assets. Geraci noted that 2025 began with the ongoing legal battle against Ripple but concluded with spot XRP ETFs already actively trading, signifying a major leap forward for the asset.

This trend extends beyond XRP, with spot ETFs emerging for other prominent cryptocurrencies such as SOL, HBAR, and LTC. Additionally, various crypto index ETFs are now building diversified baskets that include assets like ADA, SUI, DOT, LINK, and others. This indicates a fundamental shift in market sentiment, transitioning from an era of caution and uncertainty regarding the legitimacy of crypto investments to a focus on selecting specific fund products. The market's question has evolved from "Can we even touch this?" to "Which fund do we want?"

Further fueling this momentum, Bitwise filed 11 new crypto ETF applications with the SEC in the final days of 2025. These are notably described as "strategic ETFs" rather than simple spot clones. According to new documents on the SEC website, these strategic ETFs are designed to allocate approximately 60% of their assets directly to cryptocurrencies and the remaining 40% to exchange-traded products that track the same underlying assets. These structures also incorporate the flexibility to utilize derivatives, such as futures or swap agreements, linked to either the token or related ETPs.

This comprehensive development underscores why 2026 is widely anticipated as the year when cryptocurrency will truly go mainstream. The most impactful change is not merely a price target, but rather the standardization of access to these digital assets. XRP, through the introduction of its exchange-traded fund on major venues, has become a prime example of an asset now integrated into the mainstream financial ecosystem, alongside a growing number of its peers.
