Expedition Motor Company (EMC) has transformed a 1991 Mercedes-Benz 250GD, a diesel-powered military version of the G-Class SUV from the W461 generation, into the remarkable Wolf 620GE. This restomod project is a testament to meticulous craftsmanship, involving a 100-point restoration where the 4x4 is entirely torn down to its frame. The rebuilding process requires an extensive 2,500-man-hour effort by a dedicated team of 26 craftspeople, resulting in a robust and highly capable off-road machine.
Initially, EMC's founder, Alex Levin, intended to equip the company's restomods solely with the original OM602 diesel engine. However, customer demand led to the expansion of powertrain options. EMC now offers the Wolf with a turbocharged OM605a engine, producing 225 hp and 300 lb-ft of torque, and a higher-output OM606a turbodiesel, which develops 275 hp and 350 lb-ft of torque.
