In a landmark moment for the long-running Cup of Excellence (CoE) green coffee competition, the top two coffees in Honduras were purchased by a Honduras-based roaster, Spirit Animal Coffee. “Coffees of this caliber are usually exported and never tasted locally,” Honduras CoE Managing Director Gary Urrutia said in an announcement. “Keeping them here is a turning point for how coffee-producing countries reclaim pride, ownership and recognition in the global market.”
Privately owned, Nebraska-based coffee chain Scooter’s Coffee is exploring a sale that could value the company at approximately $1 billion, according to a Reuters report that cited four sources familiar with the matter.
Six-time NBA All-Star and current Golden State Warrior Jimmy Butler and his Bigface coffee brand are partnering with payment services giant Square for a popup cafe in San Francisco. Running for two weeks, ending July 27, the popup will be inside a corner space at 22nd and Valencia that was formerly occupied by Lucca Ravioli, according to an Eater report.

In June 2023, Augusta National Golf Club filed an application with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office for “Clubhouse Select” under the coffee category, leading to speculation that the world-famous golf club might be brewing up an Augusta National-branded coffee for Masters week, according to a Golf Media report.
