Fire firefighters were battling three fires in the Lawson Valley area of inland San Diego County that were first reported shortly after 6:30pm near Lyons Valley Road and Honey Springs Road Thursday evening.
Cal Fire as of 9pm said the fires had together combined to burn 50 acres and reported that the forward progress of one of the fires had been stopped and that the two other fires had merged. It was 10-percent contained as of 10 p.m.
Cal Fire Captain Robert Johnson told KOGO News at 9 p.m. that the flames were moderately spreading but that some progress was being made. He says winds had become calm and weather conditions more favorable with rising humidity levels. A nighttime water dropping helicopter was on duty. An air tanker that was called in within the first hour of the fire was released due to the night sky but was expected to return after morning light.
Evacuation orders and warnings were issued and were still in place as of 9 p.m. There were no immediate reports of any structures damaged or injuries.
