ZOUK MIKAEL (Lebanon) - Wael Arakji further added to his already stacked basketball resume after being named the Most Valuable Player of the FIBA West Asia Super League (WASL) 2025 on Sunday night.

His coronation took place shortly after leading Al Riyadi to a successful repeat in the pan-regional competition by way of a 104-77 win over Tabiat in the Final before a packed crowd at the Stade Nouhad Naufal.

The 28-year-old received the award from FIBA Executive Director-Asia Mr. Hagop Khajirian before raising it for the whole venue to see, basking in cheers and adoration after leading his team to another major triumph.

Arakji poured 28 points and 6 assists in the championship bout, scoring 12 in the opening period alone as he spearheaded the decisive 15-0 run for a 26-12 lead that completely shifted the momentum in their favor.

Eventually, the entire squad would hoist the trophy, becoming the only team to date to win the WASL in back-to-back fashion - just a month after completing an unprecedented 'three-peat' in the WASL-West Asia League.

Arakji finished the 2025 Final8 with per-game averages of 24.8 points on 68.4-percent shooting from the floor, 2.0 rebounds, and 6.3 assists with an efficiency of 27.0 to bring home the league's highest individual plum.

Now, Al Riyadi will turn their attention to the Basketball Champions League Asia 2025 in June, in which they are coming in as the defending champions after lording over its inaugural edition in Dubai last year.

Arakji is also entering the continent's most prestigious club competition as its reigning MVP.
