Volta Region: Man Lured by Woman and Killed for Ritual - Six in Custody as Police Discover More Bodies

Published 20 hours ago2 minute read

A chilling ritual murder case has emerged from the Volta Region, where a 25-year-old mason, Nelson Anyena, was allegedly lured by a woman under the guise of romance and later killed for money rituals.

According to police sources, Anyena had relocated from Wusuta to Mafi-Adidome in December 2024 to live with his wife. On December 4, he was allegedly lured to a remote location by 21-year-old Augustina Fiawoyife under the pretense of a romantic meeting.

Once there, he was reportedly strangled by two men—Wisdom Hedidor and Courage Bedzo—who then delivered his body to a local fetish priest, Noah Gblor, in exchange for GH¢7,000.

Three other individuals have also been arrested in connection with the killing: Yohannes Gblor, a security guard; John Gblor, a lotto writer; and the spiritualist, Noah Gblor, whose shrine was the site of further shocking discoveries.

During an exhumation at the shrine on July 7, 2025, police uncovered two more decomposed and unidentified bodies buried on the premises. These remains have been sent to the Police Hospital Mortuary in Accra for autopsy and DNA analysis.

All six suspects are currently in custody and have been remanded. They are expected to reappear before the court on August 8, 2025.

The Volta Regional Police Command has commended the local community for their support and cooperation. They are urging the public, especially the family of the deceased, to remain calm as investigations continue.

Authorities have not ruled out further arrests as they work to dismantle what they suspect is a broader criminal network involved in ritual killings.
