USC Trojans are continuing to build on the crazy recruiting momentum they currently have for the 2026 class
There isn't a football program in the country that's hotter than the USC Trojans football program right now. I know what you're thinking, how are they hot if they are in the offseason? Well, this is a program that, in the offseason, is in fire, literally the hottest team in the sport right now, more on fire than the National Champion Ohio State Buckeyes.
And what I mean by that is, the Trojans cannot be stopped when it comes to recruiting. Earlier this week they closed the gap between them and the No. 1 class in the country for 2026, the Oregon Ducks. They were No. 2. Now, they have pretty much tied things up after getting another commit on Sunday.
A few days ago it was four-star quarterback Jonas Williams who flipped from Oregon. On Sunday it was a four-star linebacker.
Simote Katoanga is a standout high school football player from California, considered one of the best in the Class of 2026. At 6’5” and 240-250 pounds, he’s a powerful defensive end with an 80-inch wingspan. He started at JSerra Catholic High School before moving to Santa Margarita Catholic High School. His size, speed, and energy make him a top recruit, able to play as an edge rusher.
Though still growing into his potential, he’s already a four-star prospect, ranked highly by recruiting sites like 247Sports (No. 18 among defensive linemen, No. 16 in California). His strength and improving pass-rush skills hint at a big future.
Katoanga has over 20 college offers from top schools like USC, Notre Dame, Texas, and Georgia. He committed to USC on February 23, 2025, after liking their staff and plan to keep local talent. He also played basketball at JSerra, showing his all-around athletic ability. With his commitment to USC and room to grow, he’s set for a strong college career.
And the Trojans aren't slowing down anytime soon.
