Unconventional Parenting: Polyamorous Family Defends Raising Kids with Two Wives and a Girlfriend

A family comprising Trell, his two wives Emily and Allie, and his girlfriend Kiley, is openly sharing their unique polyamorous lifestyle and the dynamics of co-parenting their children. This quad, as they refer to themselves, collectively raises four-year-old Reign and two-month-old baby Chicago. Additionally, Trell's 16-year-old daughter, Lili, from a previous relationship, has also been brought up within the supportive framework of their expanded family.
Allie revealed that the addition of Kiley, who is new to polyamorous relationships but describes herself as an "open person," has made family life "easier," describing her as "definitely another helping hand." Trell noted that while they weren't actively seeking another member, Kiley possessed a "different energy" that resonated with them. The family maintains a close-knit living arrangement, with Emily humorously stating, "We're just piled on to the bed like sardines," indicating they never sleep separately.
Regarding the children, Lili initially required some adjustment to Kiley joining the family, but the two are now reportedly inseparable. Reign and Chicago, on the other hand, have never known a family dynamic outside of their parents' polyamorous relationships. Trell firmly challenges societal misconceptions about polyamory and children, asserting, "Society tends to think of poly relationships as inappropriate for children but that's not the case. All they know is they got more love in the house."
The mothers express deep gratitude for the shared responsibilities, with Emily admitting her disbelief at "how single mums do it" and recalling how she and Allie were still exhausted even before Kiley joined. To manage childcare, the trio effectively works in shifts, allowing one parent to nap while the others attend to the children. The family frequently shares insights into their daily lives online, an openness that has unfortunately led to cruel comments from trolls who doubt the longevity of their relationship and have labeled Trell a "pimp."
Despite the negativity, the family remains unfazed. Trell challenges critics, asking, "If we love each other and we have a family and we're building a family, what does that have to do with you? It's just ignorant." They have also distanced themselves from friends who disapprove of their unconventional dynamic, dismissing such departures with a firm "good riddance." Allie encapsulates their philosophy, echoing the sentiment, "They say it takes a village to raise a kid, well this is it."
