Avonworth’s Mason Metz is greeted by teammates after hitting a two-run homer against South Park on April 30.
As the sands of the high school baseball regular season fall in the hourglass, the elite teams across the state are picking up steam as they head toward their district playoffs.
The wins are piling up, leading to few changes from last week in the Trib HSSN state baseball rankings.
Only three teams lost their Top 5 footing and tumbled out of the rankings.
Punxsutawney from District 9 in Class 4A and Lakeview from D-10 and Tri-Valley from D-11 in 2A tumbled and were replaced respectively by Archbishop Wood, Mount Union and Burgettstown.
The top-ranked teams from a week ago remain the same with Landisville Hempfield in 6A, Radnor in 5A, East Pennsboro in 4A, Avonworth in 3A, Faith Christian in 2A and Southern Fulton in A still at No. 1.
