TikTok Titan Khaby Lame Cashes Out: $900M Company Sale Shakes Social Media World
Khaby Lame, recognized globally as the most-followed TikTok creator with over 160 million followers, has finalized a groundbreaking all-stock deal with Rich Sparkle Holdings. The transaction, valued between $900 million and $975 million, represents one of the most significant monetisation agreements within the burgeoning creator economy. Announced in mid-January and completed on January 23rd, the deal involved the partial sale of Lame's operating company, Step Distinctive Limited, in which he previously held a 49% stake.
Under the terms of the agreement, Rich Sparkle Holdings acquires exclusive global commercial rights to Lame's brand for an initial 36-month period. These rights encompass a broad spectrum of activities, including brand partnerships, endorsements, licensing, merchandise, and e-commerce initiatives.
A pivotal aspect of this arrangement is Lame's transition to a controlling shareholder in Rich Sparkle, effectively shifting his role from a traditional influencer to a strategic equity partner in a platform designed to amplify his vast audience into substantial global sales. Rich Sparkle projects that this integrated model could generate annual revenues exceeding US$4 billion once it is fully implemented across its target markets.
The expansion strategy for this new venture is slated to commence in key regions such as the United States, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia. This ambitious global outreach will be further supported by a strategic partnership with China's Anhui Xiaoheiyang Network Technology. Innovatively, the strategy also includes the development of an AI-powered digital twin of Khaby Lame, intended to facilitate the creation of multilingual content and enable enhanced virtual engagement with his diverse global fanbase.
In 2025, Lame's earnings reached approximately US$20 million, positioning him among the top creators worldwide.
This landmark transaction signals a profound paradigm shift in how digital influence is monetised. It moves beyond traditional reliance on sponsorships towards a model where top creators establish equity-backed platforms that seamlessly integrate content, technology, and supply chains. The deal sets an unprecedented benchmark in creator valuations, underscoring that sustained scale, rather than ephemeral virality, is now the primary driver of value in the creator economy.
By integrating e-commerce capabilities, logistics infrastructure, and advanced AI, Rich Sparkle is making a strategic bet that creator-led brands possess the potential to operate on par with established global consumer companies.
The timing of this agreement aligns with a broader momentum observed in the industry. Global creator revenues are estimated to have reached approximately US$20.6 billion in 2025, propelled by the rise of social commerce and platform incentives. Major digital platforms are actively redesigning their tools to support subscriptions, revenue-sharing models, and direct fan payments, increasingly favoring creators who cultivate loyal and engaged audiences.
For creators of African and diaspora heritage, Lame's inspiring journey from Senegalese roots to achieving global equity ownership provides a compelling template, demonstrating how borderless content can be effectively translated into substantial ownership, strategic control, and enduring enterprise value, extending far beyond mere visibility.
