Three arrested for armed robbery of gold dealer in Central region

According to a police statement, the suspects were apprehended on June 25 following intelligence that three unidentified young men had assaulted and robbed a gold dealer after firing shots at him and fleeing the scene on a motorbike.
A swift joint operation by the Assin Foso Division and District Police led to the arrest of the suspects at a snap checkpoint in Assin Nyankumase.
During the arrest, the suspects attempted to discard the firearm used in the attack by throwing it into nearby bushes. A thorough search of the area resulted in the recovery of a pump-action gun, a spent cartridge, and a machete. Another pump-action gun was also found in their possession.
The victim was taken to hospital and is currently receiving medical treatment.
The suspects are in police custody assisting investigations and will be arraigned before court in due course.
