Cape Coast, July 01, GNA – Mr. Kingsley Nana Buadu, Head of News and Current Affairs at Radio Central, has been elected as the new Chairman of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) in the Central Region, narrowly defeating the incumbent by two votes.

Mr. Buadu polled 18 votes to edge out Mr. David Yaboi-Tetteh, the outgoing chairman, who secured 16 votes in a closely contested election.

Mr. Adu Gyamfi Marfo of Kingdom FM was elected Vice Chairman unopposed, while the remaining executive positions went uncontested.

In his victory remarks, Mr. Buadu pledged to reinvigorate the Association, promising to make it more vibrant, accountable, innovative, and inclusive. He reiterated his commitment to fulfilling campaign promises, including constructing a regional secretariat and reviving the long-dormant regional awards scheme.

He also assured members of improved welfare support and broader participation through the formation of committees to help drive the Association’s activities.

“I want to leave behind an Association that is strong, united, and influential in the region,” he said. “One that is open to all qualified practitioners and plays a key role in regional affairs due to its credibility and reach.”

Mr. Buadu called for unity and urged members to support the new leadership in moving the Association forward.
