'The White Lotus' Season 3 Preview, Cast Video Interview HBO
The White Lotus is once again open for business — but the guests aren’t just looking to get a great tan.
TVLine sat down with the Season 3 cast of HBO‘s luxury vacation dramedy (premiering this Sunday at 9/8c) to get a sneak peek at all the new guests and what brings them to the lavish Thailand resort. In the video above, Michelle Monaghan explains that her character Jaclyn is trying to reconnect with her old friends Kate and Laurie: “They all go on vacation really putting their best feet forward, trying to feel if that connection is as sincere and authentic as it used to be. But the facade starts to wane, and we start to see cracks in their perfect lives.”
Aimee Lou Wood’s character Chelsea is looking for “resolution” from her boyfriend Rick, played by Walton Goggins, and “she’s not going to be able to be fully free” until she gets it, Wood says. Rick is “consumed by his past,” she adds, and Goggins also notes that Rick has been “running from his past for a very long time… He is an angry, bitter guy.” He blames one person for how his life turned out, Goggins teases, “and he can’t really handle that.”

Natasha Rothwell’s Belinda, who returns from Season 1, is enjoying being pampered for once, Rothwell says: “She’s trying on what a guest might be like… We get to see her not in her uniform all the time. We see her enjoying the White Lotus, and flirting with the potential of what could be.”
As for Parker Posey’s Victoria, she “doesn’t really care that it’s Thailand,” Posey reveals. “She could be anywhere as long as there’s a good massage. She plans to take her pills and relax and enjoy her perfect children” while “living in a narcissistic” bubble. (That bubble is about to get burst, though, don’t you think?)
Jaclyn’s friends Laurie and Kate are eager to reconnect, too, but they’re bringing a lot of baggage with them to Thailand, cast members Carrie Coon and Leslie Bibb tell us. “Laurie’s life is falling apart,” Coon admits, “and she’s looking to recapture some of the fun energy of her youth.” Kate is determined to play the role of peacemaker on this trip, Bibb says: “I think she feels this friendship is slipping… It’s very important for her to keep this friendship alive.”
