The EU Pavilion at the 2025 London Design Biennale - Discover how design meets diplomacy, and how Europe connects with the world | EEAS
The pavilion illustrated how the Global Gateway is reflected worldwide through tangible projects across Latin America and the Caribbean, Sub-Saharan Africa, Asia and the Pacific, and the Middle East. Each project is a mirror of European values, smart, clean, and secure investments that bridge the global investment gap and connect goods, people, and services sustainably.

As visitors engaged with the pavilion, they were invited to reflect on how design - both as an idea and a practice - can be translated into meaningful, global change. The EU’s presence at the Biennale celebrated the power of unity, connectivity, and shared purpose in designing a better future for people and the planet.
EU Ambassador to the UK Pedro Serrano took part in the opening event of the 2025 London Design Biennale, joining distinguished guests and speakers to mark the launch of this global celebration of design. Welcoming remarks were delivered by Sir Chris Bryant, Minister of State for Creative Industries, Arts and Tourism, and the Minister of State at the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology and the Department for Culture, Media and Sport.

The EU Delegation warmly congratulates two EU Member States who were recognised with top awards at this year’s Biennale: was awarded the London Design Biennale Medal for the most outstanding overall contribution and received the London Design Biennale Theme Medal for the most compelling interpretation of the Biennale’s theme.
Finally, we would like to extend our sincere thanks to our colleagues at the Directorate-General for International Partnerships (DG INTPA) of the European Commission in Brussels — in particular Fiona Ramsey, Head of Unit Effective Development Policy & Team Europe, whose invaluable support helped bring this project to life.
