Over the years, social media has provided both gamers and developers a unique way to interact about all things video games. Players can share clips, instantly highlight any bugs and share their enthusiasm, while developers and studios can directly market to those consumers, as well as interact on a more personal level.

Bluesky Reminds Me Of Gaming Twitter’s Golden Age
The competing social media site feels a lot like Twitter did five years ago.
That said, not every interaction is pleasant, and sometimes things can go off the deep end. Such was the case earlier on Friday, when Nikita Buyanov, the director of Escape from Tarkov, got into a public spat with a fan.
To start, Buyanov shared a seemingly innocuous image on Twitter on Thursday, only to be met with a reply from a gamer stating, "You destroyed your game bro."
Buyanov didn't take too kindly to the criticism, and replied "Oh shut the f*** up." While some of the initial replies to the post, largely from those with paid Twitter verification, were positive, many did not share in that same sentiment, and called out Buyanov on his behavior.
However, shortly after, Buyanov walked back his initial response by stating that he was merely joking, and that "every opinion matters."
As it stands, sentiment within the larger Escape from Tarkov community isn't particularly high following its most recent hardcore wipe that impacted the game at a fundamental level. Some players felt blindsided by the move, and have grown frustrated with the game, leading to responses like the one that triggered the whole ordeal.
Either way, it's a representation of the negative impact that social media access can have, something that Gearbox's Randy Pitchford learned recently, as well as something that XDefiant's producer dealt with last year.
