Since the original adapter plug doesn't fit into the power socket, I use an additional plug adapter. Even though I've replaced that adapter twice, the original Mac charger plug still gets very very hot

'PLUG gets HOT' is an indication that there is likely an internal short circuit in the MagSafe plug itself.
The L-shaped were VERY susceptible to this fault. The T-shaped, not so much.
