Texas All-Stars Assemble: Ella Langley Enlists Miranda Lambert, Luke Grimes & More for Epic 'Choosin' Texas' Video!

Ella Langley, the artist behind the four-week Billboard Hot 100 chart-topper “Choosin’ Texas,” has released the official music video for the heartbreak song, featuring a star-studded ensemble. The video, which premiered on Wednesday, April 1, was co-directed by Langley herself, alongside Wales Toney and Caylee Robillard, and was filmed at the historic Stagecoach Ballroom in Fort Worth, Texas.

The narrative of the video unfolds as Langley’s character and her beau, portrayed by Yellowstone actor and singer/songwriter Luke Grimes, return to his hometown of Abilene, Texas. A poignant moment arises as Langley’s character questions, “Do you ever wish you didn’t leave Texas?” Their journey leads them to a local bar, where Grimes’ character spots a young blonde woman, played by actress Ava Phillippe (daughter of Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe). Subsequent flashbacks reveal a deep-rooted history between Grimes’ and Phillippe’s characters, indicating a past relationship that began in childhood.

The video further deepens the emotional tension with the appearance of Oklahoma singer/songwriter Kaitlin Butts, who portrays an Abilene local. Butts’ character delivers a subtle yet potent warning to Langley in the bar’s restroom: “Texas has a way of keeping what’s hers.” As the night progresses, Grimes’ character finds himself unable to ignore the gaze of his former lover on the dance floor, and Langley’s character acutely senses the undeniable connection between the two.

Adding to the star power, multiple CMA Award winner Miranda Lambert, who also co-wrote “Choosin’ Texas,” appears in the video as a musician preparing to head back to Tennessee. When Langley confides in Lambert about her realization that her man is falling for another woman, Lambert offers her a ride out of Texas. Langley’s character accepts, leaving Grimes’ character confused and alone outside the bar as the van drives away, leaving him in the Texas dust.

Beyond the main cast, the “Choosin’ Texas” video is enriched with cameos from notable figures in the rodeo and music worlds. These include cowboys, ropers, and bareback riders such as Dale Brisby, JB Mauney, Shad Mayfield, Tyson Durfey, Shea Fisher Durfey, and Leighton Berry. Musicians Casey Donahew, Tanner Usrey, Wade Bowen, Mike Ryan, and Melinda Donahew also make appearances. “Choosin’ Texas” is a track from Ella Langley’s highly anticipated upcoming album, “Dandelion,” which is scheduled for release on April 10.
