During a ride in Austin, passenger Matthew Skrzypczack encountered an unexpected virtual joystick displayed on the Cybercab’s central screen. Skrzypczack, who shared his experience on X, noted, “When I got in the vehicle, the display was in a different configuration with a virtual joystick for manual driving. I have a feeling I wasn’t supposed to see this… but I tried to manually drive the vehicle anyway!” This discovery immediately raised questions about the vehicle's true operational capabilities and the extent of its autonomy.
Upon attempting to use the virtual joystick, Skrzypczack observed the screen prompt him to "Press and hold joystick" and then "Swipe up or down to shift gears." His attempts to manually control the vehicle were unsuccessful, leading him to contact Tesla support for assistance. After a brief period, the employee manually adjusted the Cybercab's position to enable it to connect for charging.
