'Teen Mom' Star Mackenzie Douthit Celebrates After Finally Being Able to Bring Both Her Twin Daughters Home from NICU - The Ashley's Reality Roundup
More than a month after giving birth to twin daughters, revealed this week that both of her and husband ’s newborn daughters are out of the NICU and officially settling in at home.
The star’s daughters— Ja’Kharie Angie and Ja’Meikah Angella— were born June 2 via C-section when Mackenzie was 31.5 weeks pregnant. In the weeks after their birth, the girls remained in the NICU, with Mack and Khesanio posting photos and updates to social media.
On June 29, Ja’Meikah was allowed to go home, but Ja’Kharie had to remain in the hospital due to feeding issues. While Mack expressed her happiness about being able to take one of her daughters home, she was also very upset to leave one in the hospital.
“This is the hardest part of the twin NICU life,” she wrote on Facebook on the day of Ja’Meikah’s release. “My heart is so happy to have my baby home with me, and so crushed that my other baby is being left at the hospital. They went from being in my belly together, to separate crib across the room, now completely apart. But one day very soon they will be side by side once again.”
Mackenzie and Khesanio brought Ja’Meikah to visit her sister in the hospital.
On Wednesday, Mackenzie shared the good news that Ja’Meikah had been released from the hospital.
“Home! With 2 healthy babies. God is good,” Mackenzie wrote in the caption of a photo of the twins sporting matching onesies reading, “[Peace] out NICU, I’m moving in with my parents!”
“The amount of stuff I am able to do and time I have not going to the hospital!” she wrote on Facebook on Thursday. “Thank you Jesus.”
Mackenzie has since shared some more photos of her twins’ homecoming to her Instagram Story, including a snapshot of her and Khes holding the girls as they nap in matching outfits.
Mackenzie is also mom to three kids by her ex-husband . The kids are currently in Oklahoma for the summer and have yet to meet their new baby sisters.
As fans of ‘Teen Mom’ know, after documenting her IVF journey both on and off ‘Teen Mom: The Next Chapter,’ Mackenzie went on to document many of her pregnancy struggles on social media, revealing a week before her twins were born that she had been hospitalized after being diagnosed with pre-eclampsia.

While Mackenzie, who is a Type 1 diabetic, experienced high-risk, difficult pregnancies with her first three children, she assured fans in May that she had a “great diabetic care team” that she was working with throughout her latest pregnancy.
“This pregnancy is unlike the last 3,” she wrote on social media while pregnant. “I have an insulin pump and Dexcom, along with a great diabetic care team. My sugars are not only great, but the babies are super healthy and growing perfectly.”
As The Ashley previously reported, it was discovered several days after the twins’ birth that Mackenzie and Khesanio had quietly gotten married in April. The nuptials took place at a courthouse in Florida. Mackenzie has since stated that she and Khesanio intend to have a marriage celebration at a later date.
