Spice Girls Reunion Hopes Ignite as Victoria Beckham Admits 'It's Tempting'

Victoria Beckham, famously known as Posh Spice, recently shared her thoughts on a potential Spice Girls reunion during a forthcoming special on SiriusXM’s Andy Cohen Live. Speaking with Andy Cohen and John Hill to promote her new self-titled Netflix documentary series, the conversation inevitably gravitated towards the iconic British girl group. Inspired by the possibility of the Gallagher brothers reuniting Oasis, Beckham mused on the idea of the Spice Girls following suit, though with significant personal reservations.
Beckham reflected on her earlier career, stating, "Before I was in the Spice Girls, I was so self-conscious and they made me feel that I was good enough." However, her perspective on performing evolved, as she realized, "being on stage, I realized as fun as it is, you know, it’s not ultimately what I want to do anymore." When pressed on the idea of a residency, perhaps at a high-profile venue like the Sphere in Las Vegas, Beckham admitted, "It’s tempting," but quickly added, "could I take on a world tour? I can’t. I have a job." She further expressed doubts about her vocal abilities, commenting, "I mean, I don’t know if I could even still sing. I mean I was never that great."
Despite her professional commitments and vocal concerns, Beckham did join her bandmates for an impromptu mini-set in April 2024 at her 50th birthday party at Oswald's, a swanky London private club. There, Posh, Scary, Sporty, Baby, and Ginger sang "Stop" and "Mama." Prior to this casual gathering, the last time all five members of the Spice Girls performed together was at the closing ceremony of the London 2012 Summer Olympics.
The Spice Girls formed in 1994, achieving global superstardom two years later with their debut single, 1996’s "Wannabe." This catchy track spent four weeks at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 in early 1997 and is one of the group’s nine U.K. No. 1 singles. Their debut LP, "Spice," dominated the Billboard 200 for five weeks and the Official U.K. Albums Chart for 15 weeks, with their follow-up album "Spiceworld" also reaching No. 1 in the U.K. in 1997. The group went on hiatus in 2000, reunited for a global tour in 2007, and again in 2018-2019, though Victoria Beckham notably did not participate in the group’s activities for more than a decade after the 2012 Olympics.
Beyond the potential reunion, Beckham's interview with Cohen also delved into other personal and public aspects of her life. Topics included the "disappearance" of her "boobs," the era of English soccer's WAGs (wives and girlfriends) that garnered significant tabloid attention, and her broader mission to "empower women" and "share my tips and tricks with women." The full interview is scheduled to air on SiriusXM’s Andy Cohen Live on Tuesday, October 28, while her documentary series, "Victoria Beckham," is currently streaming on Netflix.
