The Executive Chairman of Somolu Local Government Hon. Abdul -hammed Salawu said the residents of Somolu Local Government deserved to celebrate Easter with enough food stuffs in their homes. He made this statement during the 50% Somolu Local Government Food Subsidy program.in Collaboration with Inspire Lagos Food Market .This gesture is  meant  to cushion the effects of the current Economic situations in Nigeria.

He said, “ you will recall that we organised a similar event during the End of Ramadan fast for the Muslims celebrations,though  some Christians equally bought Foodstuffs,as a responsible and responsible Government, same largesse need to be extended to our Christian brothers, who equally fasted for days.

During the electioneering Campaign, we got massive supports from both Muslim and Christian alike.Ours is a Government of the Christians,the Muslims and the traditionalists.The Chairman who spoke through the Secretary to the Local Government Hon .Ayodele Afolabi charged the residents to be orderly and sincere by buying Food items that can satisfy their immediate needs.,as the food items are not to be resold for pecuniary profits.

The Local Government pegged what individual could purchase to twenty thousand Naira (#20,000), which must cover more than one particular food item.

The Food stuffs available for purchase were, Gari, Rice,Beans,Indomie, Eggs, Vegetable oil, Ground nut oil, Fowls, ,Cow Meat, Turkey, Bread, Tubers of yam, Loaves of Bread and others.

Over  four thousand residents bought Food items at 50% discounted rates.
