The Seychelles has significantly expanded its international air links with the recent arrival of Discover Airlines, a German leisure carrier forming part of the esteemed Lufthansa Group. The airline's inaugural direct flight from Germany landed at Seychelles International Airport on Monday, October 27, 2025, marking a pivotal moment for the Indian Ocean archipelago's connectivity to Europe. This new connection underscores the islands' increasing popularity among German and broader European holidaymakers.

The maiden flight was greeted with a vibrant Creole welcome ceremony, a reflection of the islands' rich cultural heritage and their tradition of extending a warm reception to new international partners. The event brought together influential figures from both the tourism and aviation sectors, including Mrs. Sherin Francis, Principal Secretary for Tourism; Mr. David Bianchi, Principal Secretary for Civil Aviation, Ports and Shipping; and Ms. Wallace Cosgrow, who attended as a government representative and guest of honour. Other key stakeholders present included Mr. Garry Albert, CEO of the Seychelles Civil Aviation Authority; Mr. Colin Chang-Tave, CEO of the Seychelles Airports Authority; and Mrs. Bernadette Willemin, Director General for Tourism Seychelles.

Bernd Bauer, CEO of Discover Airlines, expressed immense enthusiasm for the new route, emphasizing its significance in expanding the company’s network into the Indian Ocean. He noted, “It’s not every day that we get to launch a new route as an airline.
