Sister Wives' Janelle Brown Reveals She's 'Not Really Interested' in Getting Married After Kody Split
It’s been more than two years since In Touch broke the news that Sister Wives stars and separated, and she isn’t rushing to get married again.
“My marriage is over. I don’t know what I’m gonna do,” Janelle, 55, revealed during the Monday, February 17, episode of the “Sibling Revelry” podcast, hosted by and. “I’m not really interested in getting married again or even really dating at this stage. So, I’m not even thinking about, like, ‘Oh, what do I need to do?’ Because I’m just like, I am over [it].”
Although the TLC star is “done” dating and “love[s]” the single life, she would “consider” entering a new relationship “if something presents itself in the future.”
Janelle has experienced two divorces. Her first was with ex-husband in 1990, who is the brother of Janelle’s former sister wife. On December 9, 2022, In Touch exclusively reported that Janelle “outgrew” her spiritual marriage with Kody, 56, and left him. Days later, the former couple, who spiritually wed in 1993, confirmed the news during the Sister Wives: One-on-One special.
“I am separated from Janelle, and I am divorced from [],” Kody said at the time.
Kody and Janelle share kids , , , Garrison Brown, Gabriel Brown and Savannah Brown.
Kody’s polygamous marriages with Janelle, Meri, 54, Christine, 52, and Robyn Brown lasted decades before they took a drastic turn.
The family patriarch legally married Meri in 1990 and spiritually married Janelle three years later. In 1994, Christine and Kody spiritually tied the knot. Robyn, 46, and Kody got spiritually married in 2010 and legally got married four years later, after Kody and Meri legally divorced.
After sharing their polygamous marriages with the world for almost 15 years, their dynamic shifted when Christine announced she left Kody in November 2021. Janelle and Kody separated the following December and by January 2023, Meri announced she and Kody were no longer together. Robyn and Kody are currently in a monogamous marriage.
Kody recently opened up about his splits from Janelle, Christine and Meri – admitting that Janelle was the one who got away.
“I hear about Christine falling in love and getting married [to husband David Wooley] and stuff like this, and I’m, like, going, ‘Well, good on Christine,’” Kody said during a Sister Wives season 9 confessional, which was shared via Instagram on February 8. “Janelle was a different story. I always thought – I just felt like Janelle and I could have worked it out.”
Kody hoped that he and Meri could remain “friends.”
Janelle and Kody experienced great loss after separating when their son Garrison died by suicide on March 5, 2024. In Touch confirmed the devastating news at the time.
The estranged family came together for Garrison’s memorial later that month in Flagstaff, Arizona, during a “private funeral for family only,” a source exclusively told In Touch following the service. “Everyone was hugging and tearing up. It was the hardest thing any of them have ever had to do, but sharing stories about Garrison helped them get through it.”
Days later, they congregated again as he was honored by the Nevada National Guard. Robyn and Kody sat a few seats away from Janelle in the first row, alongside Christine and David, who sat further down the row.
