Sister Wives' Kody Brown Says Coyote Pass Wasn't Purchased 'Equally': 'I Paid for an Entire Lot'

Published 1 month ago3 minute read

Sister Wives star is setting the record straight on Coyote Pass.

“We didn’t pay for Coyote Pass all equally,” Kody, 56, said during the Sunday, January 26, episode of Sister Wives. “I paid for an entire lot all by myself, at least 92 percent of it.”

The father of 18 said he and his then-wives, , and and current wife “chipped in” for the rest of the acres of the Arizona land. Kody is still married to Robyn, 46, while his other three wives have left the marriage.

Christine, 52, who announced her split from Kody in November 2021, sold her portion of the land to her ex for $10. Kody and Robyn were considering selling the property, however, Meri, 54, and Janelle, 55, weren’t sold on the idea.

“I don’t think you get to decide what we do with it,” Meri, 54, said of Kody on a video call with Janelle, 54. “Sorry, you are not the head of my family.”

In a confessional, the mother of one added, “I feel like Kody and Robyn probably have some plan of what they want to do and how they want to handle it. I think that Janelle has some sort of plan, and I know that I do as well. And none of us are talking to each other because of none of us trust each other.”

Meanwhile, Janelle, who announced her separation from Kody in December 2022, told Meri that she wanted to get serious about deciding the future of the property. “I think it is time for somebody to be pushing my interests. I probably will get a lawyer,” she said. “In fact, I’ve been talking to one. I hope you feel like that for you too.”

Meri admitted she also planned on hiring a lawyer to mediate during “a lot of confusion” in the family. “I feel like for quite a few years I’ve sat back and just not wanted to ruffle feathers so I haven’t pushed the issue on many things, but I will push the issue now.”

Kody, Janelle, Christine, Meri and Robyn bought the Arizona property in 2018 for $820,000 with the intention of moving their plural family into five custom-built homes. Janelle confirmed during the January 19 episode that Coyote Pass had been paid off and shared a breakdown of their ownership, explaining, “So we own, in total, about 14 acres out at Coyote Pass. The way it’s titled — if we were to sell it right now — Meri would get compensated for like, an acre and a half of the whole 14.”

Janelle explained that the decision still “hinges on Kody” because “he’s the one that is on all the titles.”

“He’s the one that has to make changes in ownership. Are you going to show up and divide these fairly? What are we doing? Because he’s very wishy washy,” she said. “He says something, then you don’t hear from him forever. I don’t know… there’s no reassurance that he’s going to be kind.”
