Sarah Jessica Parker Provides Update On 'Hocus Pocus 3'
It looks like the spell to bring Hocus Pocus 3 to reality is slowly unfolding.
In a recent episode of Andy Cohen’s Watch What Happens Live!, star Sarah Jessica Parker answered an audience question about a potential threequel to the beloved Disney Halloween classic.
“No more developments other than we would like to do it,” the And Just Like That… star said. “We’ve been having some conversations.”
Originally released in 1993, Kenny Ortega’s Hocus Pocus follows a trio of humorous evil witches who are unwittingly resurrected by a teenage boy on Halloween night in Salem, Mass. In 2022, Disney+ released a sequel to the family cult film, featuring Bette Midler, Kathy Najimy and Parker reprising their roles as the Sanderson sisters.
In a 2023 interview with The New York Times, President of Walt Disney Studios Motion Picture Production Sean Bailey confirmed that Hocus Pocus 3 was happening, with sequel helmer Anne Fletcher and scribe Jen D’Angelo set to return.
The last update audiences got on the gestating project was via Midler, who said last year that she hadn’t yet seen a script but “heard rumblings.”
She continued at the time, “I think if they’re gonna [do it], they oughtta because time is not just marching. Time is barrel-assing to the finish line. Get us while we’re still breathing, I mean, God!”
Outside of the potential Hocus Pocus 3, Parker can currently be seen on the third season of And Just Like That…, HBO Max’s Sex and the City revival that traces the lives of friends Carrie (Parker), Charlotte (Kristin Davis) and Miranda (Cynthia Nixon) alongside a new cast of characters in their 50s. Parker is also the executive producer of the Sundance-premiered documentary The Librarians, tracing library workers’ fight against the tide of book-banning across various states.
