(FOX40.COM) — The City of Sacramento is upgrading its parking meters to improve reliability, security, and efficiency for drivers.

Sacramento City Express said this is due to the ongoing challenges and repeated vandalism the city’s meters have faced. The Department of Public Works is implementing these changes to ensure the meters work properly.

The changes include:

“Our goal is to ensure that our parking system remains functional, reliable, and easy to use for all drivers,” said City Parking Manager Staci Hovermale. “These upgrades will help reduce maintenance delays, improve security, and offer a more seamless parking experience while still providing multiple payment options.”

According to SCE, the recent replacements include Southside Park and along R Street with plans to evaluate other locations for possible upgrades in the future.

Officials stated that these changes are in support of the city’s broader goals for managing the public. “Parking is a limited and valuable resource, especially in high-demand areas.”

SCE said with these changes here’s what drivers should be on the lookout for.

According to SCE, the city remains to provide safe and accessible parking options for residents and visitors while addressing the root of the problems.
