The 31-year-old athlete appeared in federal court in Brooklyn, New York, where he entered his plea and was subsequently released on a $3 million bond. This bond is secured by his Florida home and an additional property, and his release comes with strict conditions, including the surrender of his passport, travel restrictions limited to Florida, Ohio, and New York unless prior approval is granted, and prohibitions against gambling, possessing firearms, or contacting victims, co-defendants, and witnesses involved in the case.

Prosecutors allege that Rozier conspired with friends to facilitate their winning bets on his performance during a March 2023 NBA game. At the time, Rozier played for the Charlotte Hornets. The accusation specifically details that Rozier informed bettors of his intention to exit the game against the New Orleans Pelicans early due to a supposed injury. He played for nine minutes and 36 seconds before departing, citing a foot issue, and did not participate in any further games that season. This alleged action allowed gamblers to place wagers that resulted in tens of thousands of dollars in winnings.
