Royal Grandeur: Alhaji Olawale Abiodun Lawal Abinugbola Installed as Oluomo Of Ijebu Igbo in Regal Ceremony!

The ancient town of Ijebu Igbo, Ogun State, witnessed a grand celebration of tradition and community spirit on Thursday, February 5, 2025, as His Royal Majesty Oba Lawrence Jayeoba Adebajo (Ojuromi VI), the Orimolusi of Ijebu Igbo, officially installed Alhaji Lawal Abiodun Olawale Abinugbola as the Oluomo of Ijebu Igbo. The Orimolusi Palace was a hub of vibrant activity, with dignitaries, traditional rulers, community leaders, and well-wishers converging in colorful attire to honor a true son of the soil whose life embodies service, excellence, and unbreakable ties to his roots. The atmosphere was charged with profound respect for Alhaji Abinugbola's transformative impact on the town, marked by the echo of drums and the flow of royal blessings, including the handing over of the staff of office by the Orimolusi and the beads of office by Oba Abayomi Ogunye, Abijaparako of Japara.
Alhaji Abinugbola is renowned as a self-made titan in the hides and skins industry, where he single-handedly revolutionized a once-informal sector. By pioneering direct container imports, he captured approximately 60% of the national market, inspiring over 100 local individuals to engage in large-scale trade. His structured approach, characterized by modern offices, warehouses, and professional staffing, not only elevated his business but also drew educated youth back to their heritage, establishing Ijebu Igbo as a significant national hub for the industry.
Beyond his impressive business acumen, Alhaji Abinugbola's philanthropy shines brightly. Through the Abinugbola Foundation, which he solely funds, he orchestrates a remarkable daily feeding program for 1,500 people during the holy month of Ramadan. Annually, he disburses ₦150 million to support Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) and petty traders, fostering economic empowerment within the community. Furthermore, ambitious plans are underway to establish a world-class vocational center, designed to offer free training and startup equipment, ensuring that poverty does not define the futures of the underserved in this ancient town.
The prestigious title of Oluomo of Ijebu Igbo honors Alhaji Abinugbola's inspiring influence on young people across Ijebu Igbo, Ogun State, and indeed, Nigeria. His life serves as a powerful testament to tenacity, honesty, and community-first leadership. The installation ceremony concluded with joyous festivities, as Alhaji Abinugbola, flanked by his family and notable well-wishers including Nollywood celebrities, danced to electrifying performances. Legendary Fuji maestro Wasiu Ayinde Kwam1 (K1 De Ultimate) and other top Fuji artistes thrilled the crowd with melodious tunes, complemented by culturally resonant Apala selections from Alhaji Musiliu Ishola, all extolling his unwavering commitment to his people and his sharp business acumen. Among the prominent figures present were the Oba of Ado-Odo, HRM Oba Olusola Idris Osolo (Otenibotemole II), the Balogun of Ijebu Igbo and former Ogun State Commissioner of Health Dr. Babatunde Ipaye, and Chief Sunday Osifeso.
