Legendary rock star Rod Stewart graced the stage for a noble cause on Thursday night, July 30, at a star-studded fundraiser in Southampton, New York. The event was held to support TeachRock, the national education nonprofit founded by E Street Band guitarist Stevie Van Zandt. This intimate private concert, hosted for 200 guests at the home of philanthropists Bob and Lauren Day Roberts and curated by producer and creative director Mark Aldridge, successfully raised an impressive $1.7 million. These funds are dedicated to advancing TeachRock’s mission of bringing arts education to classrooms nationwide.
A significant highlight of the evening was when Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Stevie Van Zandt joined Rod Stewart on stage. Together, they delivered captivating performances of Sam Cooke’s timeless hit “Having a Party” and The Faces’ classic “Stay With Me.” Stewart expressed his enthusiasm for the collaboration, stating, “Playing alongside the legend that is Stevie Van Zandt for TeachRock — what a night. Music changed my life, and TeachRock is making sure it can change theirs too.”
TeachRock’s core mission involves supplying educators with free, standards-aligned curriculum.
