A child prances on the way to school near Sena Bhavan, Dadar, on Monday, a day the city experienced intermittent showers. The Met upgraded its weather warning from a ‘green alert' issued on Sunday to a ‘yellow' on Monday, indicating heavy rainfall.

By afternoon, 1.35 pm, the Weather Bureau issued a nowcast warning , indicating that moderate spells of rain being very likely to occur at isolated places in Mumbai, Thane and Palghar, over the next three to four hours. The update has also factoried in the possibility of thunder, lightning, and gusty winds in certain places, and advised residents to take necessary precautions while stepping out. For four days from Tuesday (July 15) until Friday, the Met has issued a green alert, indicating only light to moderate rain activity. Rainfall recorded by at India Meteorological Department's observatories in the 12 hours ending 8.30 pm on Monday, was 11.4 mm at the Colaba observatory and 34.6 mm at the one at Santacruz. So, according to the Met's classification, Colaba received light rainfall (2.5–15.5 mm), while Santacruz saw moderate rain (15.6–64.4 mm) TNN
