Report: Osimhen finally says YES to new club after months of proposing
Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has reportedly accepted Galatasaray's offer and will continue with the Turkish champions despite Napoli pushing to keep him at the club.
Galatasaray have been pushing to sign Osimhen on a permanent deal after the 26-year-old impressed on loan last season, leading them to a league and cup double. They have now reportedly got their man, amid strong interest from Saudi Arabia and Italy.
Nigerian broadcast journalist Buchi Laba, who has a close relationship with the former Lille striker, reported today that Osimhen has accepted Galatasaray's proposal.
As Pulse Sports revealed yesterday, the Lions were offering a salary in the region of €16 million per annum.
The former Capocannoniere could have earned more than double that, had he accepted the offer from Al Hilal. According to Buchi, he also rejected Napoli, with the Partenopei making efforts to convince him to return to the fold after a season away.
The deal is not completed, however, as Galatasaray have only scaled the first of two hurdles in their bid to sign Osimhen: his consent. They now have to reach an agreement with Napoli for his transfer fee. The Italian champions are insisting on full payment of the release clause, but the Turks are hoping to get a payment structure.
Osimhen's decision reflects the love and bond he developed for Galatasaray and their fans in his season on loan. He is now set for at least another season with the Yellow Reds and will look to surpass his feat from last season.
