Radiohead Tour in Jeopardy: Thom Yorke's Illness Forces Postponement, Band 'Devastated'

Radiohead has announced the postponement of a pair of shows on their current European comeback tour due to illness affecting frontman Thom Yorke. In a statement released on Monday morning, December 1st, the band informed fans that Yorke is suffering from an “extreme throat infection,” rendering him unable to sing. Consequently, two upcoming performances scheduled for December 1st and December 2nd at the Royal Arena in Copenhagen, Denmark, have been rescheduled.
The affected dates have been moved to December 15th and December 16th, respectively, at the same venue. Tickets purchased for the original dates will be automatically transferred to the new corresponding shows. Fans requiring a refund are advised to contact their point of purchase. The band clarified that two other dates at the Royal Arena, set for Thursday, December 4th, and Friday, December 5th, are expected to proceed as planned.
Radiohead expressed their deep regret and devastation at having to postpone the shows on such short notice, highlighting Thom's severe throat infection as the cause. They also conveyed their hope that Yorke will recover sufficiently to perform the remaining two Copenhagen shows, as well as all four planned concerts in Berlin, which are slated to begin on December 8th. The band shared their appreciation for the audience reactions on their recent dates and their enjoyment of being back on stage, emphasizing how terrible they feel about the enforced postponements.
This European tour marks Radiohead's first series of live performances since 2018. The tour commenced on November 4th in Madrid, initiating a sequence of four-night residencies in major European cities. Following Madrid, the band performed in Bologna, Italy, and most recently at London’s O2 Arena, where they achieved a new attendance record of 22,355 due to their innovative in-the-round staging, surpassing previous record holders like Metallica. After Berlin, the tour will now conclude in Copenhagen on December 16th.
