President Tinubu's Global Whirlwind: Returns to Lagos After Diplomatic Blitz

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu returned to Lagos on Friday evening, concluding a significant three-nation tour that included France, Kenya, and Rwanda. His plane touched down at approximately 7:12 pm at the Presidential Wing of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, where he was warmly received by a delegation of prominent government officials. Among those present were Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State, Deputy Governor Femi Hamzat, Chief of Staff to the President Femi Gbajabiamila, and Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly Mudashiru Obasa, alongside other key figures.

During his visit to France, President Tinubu engaged with global investors, where he underscored his administration's commitment to transparency and fiscal discipline. He articulated the compelling rationale behind the swift implementation of his government's bold economic reforms, seeking to build confidence and attract foreign investment into Nigeria.

Subsequently, President Tinubu participated in the Africa Forward Summit held in Nairobi, Kenya. This crucial event was co-hosted by President Emmanuel Macron of France and President William Ruto of Kenya. At the summit, President Tinubu advocated for a comprehensive reform of the global financial architecture, calling for a more equitable system that prioritizes Africa's sustainable growth and prosperity. He also emphasized the critical importance of stronger economic integration across the continent. Highlighting Nigeria's vast potential in the blue economy, he presented it as a cornerstone for Africa’s development and committed to sharing Nigeria's advanced maritime intelligence infrastructure with willing Gulf of Guinea states. While in Nairobi, he also held a productive bilateral meeting with his Madagascan counterpart, Michael Randrianirina.

The tour continued to Kigali, Rwanda, where President Tinubu joined other influential African leaders, investors, and Chief Executive Officers from both global and African companies at the esteemed Africa CEO Forum. The forum served as a platform to strategize on practical approaches to accelerate the continent's economic transformation, emphasizing shared scale, deeper regional integration, and increased cross-border investments. In Kigali, President Tinubu engaged in a bilateral meeting with the Rwandan leader and host, President Paul Kagame. He also met with delegations from several multilateral and multinational corporations, including the International Finance Corporation (IFC), APM Terminals, and the Winme Group, yielding notable favorable outcomes. Throughout his engagements, President Tinubu actively participated in various panels and discussions, using these opportunities to highlight the core tenets of his administration's economic reform programmes.

Upon his return to Lagos, President Tinubu is scheduled to participate in the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary elections, commencing on Saturday. He had previously issued a statement to party faithful, urging all participants in the primaries to maintain peace, embrace sportsmanship, and act in the overall best interests of both the party and the nation.
