The PDP caucus declared its support for Adeleke during a meeting held on Saturday in Osogbo, the Osun state capital.

Speculations have been swirling about Adeleke’s alleged plans to dump the PDP for the All Progressives Congress (APC).

In a statement, Olawale Rasheed, Adeleke’s special adviser on media, described the meeting as a “detailed discussion”, adding that all party leaders attended.

“After a briefing from Governor Ademola Adeleke and exhaustive deliberations by leaders, the meeting issued a communique to signal its direction on the issue at the moment,” the statement reads.

“In the communique, the PDP state leadership resolved to follow Governor Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke wherever he goes.

“The meeting, however, recognised that the governor is still consulting on the next lines of action.”

Party members, federal lawmakers, state legislators, members of the state executive council, the elders caucus, and the state chapter of the Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON) were said to have attended the meeting.

Those in attendance include Kola Adewusi, Adeleke’s deputy; Lere Oyewumi, senate minority leader; and three members of the house of representatives — Bamidele Sallam, Clement Olohunwa, and Taofeek Ajilesoro.

Others are Kamorudeen Ajisafe, the PDP’s south-west vice-chairman; Sunday Bisi, the Osun PDP chairman; Adewale Egbedun, speaker of the state assembly; Ireyode Oyewusi, his deputy; Teslim Igbalaye, secretary to the state government; Kazeem Akinleye, Adeleke’s chief of staff; and Olagunsoye Oyinlola, former governor.
