Olivia Rodrigo's Daisy Chain Fields festival has successfully raised an impressive $10 million for organizations supporting reproductive rights, healthcare, and domestic abuse survivors. The pop star curated an all-women lineup for the inaugural Irvine event, fulfilling a long-held dream to drive meaningful change through music and community.
Pop sensation Olivia Rodrigo has made a significant impact on women's advocacy, announcing a remarkable $10 million raised through her Daisy Chain Fields festival. These substantial funds are earmarked for organizations dedicated to supporting reproductive rights, healthcare initiatives, and survivors of domestic abuse across the globe, marking a powerful start in addressing critical issues faced by women.
The announcement came during a press conference on Friday, August 28, where Rodrigo expressed her pride and excitement. "It’s a real honor to announce that we are donating $10 million to be given directly to these 10 nonprofit partners," she stated, emphasizing her anticipation for the inaugural festival day. The first-ever Daisy Chain Fields is a daylong event held in Irvine, California, which took place the day after the announcement.
Rodrigo personally curated an impressive, all-women lineup for the festival, a long-held dream of hers. The diverse roster of performers included acclaimed artists such as Chappell Roan, Doechii, Mitski, Garbage, The Breeders, and Bikini Kill. Adding to the excitement, the event also featured special guest appearances by iconic figures like Stevie Nicks, Karen O, and Sarah McLachlan. Initially, the girl group KATSEYE was slated to perform, but they had to withdraw due to member Megan spraining her ankle, with Devon Again stepping in as a replacement on the bill.
When Rodrigo first announced Daisy Chain Fields in June, she shared her vision, stating, "i’ve had a dream of doing this festival for years and i am so ecstatic its finally coming true!! Daisy Chain Fields features an all-women lineup and 100 percent of the net proceeds will go to charities dedicated to advancing and advocating for women and girls." She firmly believes in the power of "joy, community, and music" as drivers of meaningful change, expressing hope that the festival would embody this philosophy.
The ten nonprofit partners benefiting from this monumental donation include a wide array of esteemed organizations. Among them are Baby2Baby, Black Mamas Matter Alliance, FreeFrom, Jhpiego, Johns Hopkins Center for Indigenous Health, National Domestic Workers Alliance, National Institute for Reproductive Health, and National Women’s Law Center, all committed to making a difference in the lives of women and girls.
