MANILA, Philippines — The southwest monsoon will continue to affect large parts of the country, bringing rains over the western sections of Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration.

PAGASA said heavy rainfall is likely in Western Visayas, the Zamboanga Peninsula, the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), Zambales, Bataan, Cavite, Occidental Mindoro, Romblon and Palawan.

Localized thunderstorms are also expected across various areas despite generally improving weather conditions elsewhere.

No low-pressure area or tropical cyclone is currently being monitored within the Philippine area of responsibility. However, the weather bureau is observing cloud clusters east of Mindanao that could potentially influence local weather patterns in the coming days.

In Palawan, rainfall is expected to continue. Meanwhile, Metro Manila and several areas in Luzon and the Visayas are forecast to experience relatively fair weather, though brief thunderstorms remain likely, particularly in the afternoon or evening.

Today, moderate to heavy rain may persist in parts of central and southern Luzon due to the monsoon. Conditions in Metro Manila and eastern Luzon are expected to be more stable, though isolated thunderstorms are still possible.

In the Visayas and Mindanao, the monsoon will continue to bring rains to Western Visayas, the Zamboanga Peninsula, and parts of BARMM. Other areas in southern Visayas and Mindanao are expected to experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated thunderstorms.

While no significant sea level rise has been recorded, PAGASA advised caution when navigating coastal waters, especially in areas affected by the monsoon, as rough sea conditions may persist.

From tomorrow to Thursday, Baguio City is forecast to have generally fair weather, although rainfall may begin by Thursday. Metro Manila, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, the Bicol Region and Mimaropa may experience occasional rains and thunderstorms throughout the week, particularly in their western portions.

Moderate to heavy rain is also possible midweek in parts of the Visayas, including Metro Cebu, Iloilo City and Tacloban. In Mindanao, cities such as Davao, Cagayan de Oro and Zamboanga may see continued rain, overcast skies, and the risk of landslides up to Thursday.
