Nigeria At 65: Ruling Party Declares 'New Dawn' Under Tinubu's Leadership

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has extended its congratulations to Nigerians on the occasion of the nation’s 65th Independence Anniversary, heralding a period of renewed hope, significant growth, and transformative change under the leadership of President Bola Tinubu. In an official statement released by Felix Morka, the APC National Publicity Secretary, the party lauded the enduring resilience and unwavering patriotism demonstrated by Nigerians. Furthermore, the statement paid profound tribute to Nigeria’s esteemed founding fathers, acknowledging their pivotal role in establishing a nation defined by its unity, rich diversity, and an unyielding aspiration for greatness.
The APC’s message specifically highlighted the profound contributions of the nation’s pioneers, recognizing their arduous struggles, profound sacrifices, and unwavering patriotism that collectively bequeathed a country united across its vast ethnic, religious, and cultural spectrum. This foundation, the party asserted, underpins Nigeria’s confident and unstoppable quest for lasting preeminence. Despite the numerous trials and challenges that have confronted the country over several decades, the APC underscored the unwavering determination of the Nigerian populace to persistently advance towards comprehensive national development.
Morka further emphasized that through various difficult challenges, raging storms, and periods of relative calm, Nigeria has consistently triumphed. This triumph, he noted, is fundamentally rooted in the solid will, perseverance, sacrifices, resilience, and the self-evident patriotism of its citizens. The statement confidently asserted that the current administration, led by President Tinubu, has provided a clear and definitive direction for the nation’s future, thereby ushering in what the party described as a “new dawn” brimming with possibilities and prospects for prosperity. The APC conveyed a strong sense of optimism, stating that there is no more opportune moment to be hopeful about the country’s future, predicting brighter days and a vibrant future for its people.
The statement went on to detail key reforms spearheaded by President Tinubu, specifically mentioning the removal of the fuel subsidy and the unification of the foreign exchange market. These actions, while recognized as tough and inevitable, were presented as necessary steps towards stabilizing and fostering economic growth. The party acknowledged that these reforms initially caused “transient discomforts” for Nigerians but maintained that the country is now in a better economic position as a result. According to the APC, all relevant economic indicators now point to an economy built on robust macroeconomic foundations, already yielding early positive results.
The party cited several key economic achievements, including a Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth rate of 4.28% in the second quarter of 2025, which represents the highest growth recorded in four years and surpasses the International Monetary Fund’s (IMF) forecast of 3.5%. Additionally, foreign reserves have reportedly increased to over $42 billion, inflation has dropped to 20.1% – marking its lowest in recent times – and the revenue-to-debt servicing ratio has been significantly reduced from 97% to below 50%. The Tax-to-GDP ratio has also seen an increase to 13.5%, and the Naira has experienced stabilization, which has contributed to restoring investor confidence.
Beyond economic indicators, the APC also highlighted substantial progress across various critical sectors. These include an unprecedented uptake in infrastructural investment, a revolutionary transformation within the agricultural and creative industry sub-sectors leading to massive job creation, and a sustained campaign against insurgency and corruption. The party expressed its conviction that these efforts position Nigeria on the brink of historic advancement. Concluding its message, the APC extended its gratitude to Nigerians for their “patience and sacrifice of love for country” and earnestly appealed for their sustained support for the Tinubu-led administration, emphasizing the collective efforts required to build the Nigeria of their shared dreams.
